Honoring America's Legacy of Freedom
The Cleveland Wing of the Commemorative Air Force welcomes you to our web site. We hope you will come and join us in our endeavor to maintain our classic World War II SNJ-4 trainer located at Lorain County Regional Airport just south of Elyria, Ohio. For a tax deductible donation, you can experience the thrill of a 30 minute flight experience ride in this beautifully preserved and well-maintained military aircraft. The North American SNJ-4 advanced trainer, known as the "Texan," was
flown by all military services during World War II. This trainer is of the
type that all pilots used prior to going into high performance aircraft. The
date December 6, 1941, is stamped on the engine name
plate, the day before
the infamous Pearl Harbor attack by the Japanese on December 7, 1941. This
aircraft is a national treasure. Operations: C.A.F. Cleveland WingWe also invite you to join the Cleveland Wing of the Commemorative Air Force to assist in our effort to preserve and present the heritage of World War II aviation. The only requisite for CAF membership is a sincere interest in the preservation of World War II aircraft. Membership is open to all men and women aged 18 or older. You need not be a pilot or military veteran to join the CAF. We meet every Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in our hangar at Lorain County Regional Airport. We call these meetings "Donut Patrol," in which we have some coffee and donuts, then work on our aircraft, perform maintenance around the hangar, or just hang out and have a good time. Our monthly general meetings are on the second Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m. Thank you for visiting the Cleveland Wing online, and feel free to contact us if you are interested in visiting our Hangar or joining our organization.
