Operations: C.A.F. Cleveland Wing

The Cleveland Wing of the Commemorative Air Force meets every Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in our hangar at Lorain County Airport just south of Elyria, Ohio. We call these meetings "Donut Patrol," in which we have some coffee and donuts, then work on our aircraft or perform maintenance about the hangar. Our monthly general meetings are on the second Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m.

Our aircraft is a North American SNJ-4 advanced trainer of the type known as the "Texan." These aircraft were flown by all military services during World War II. This trainer is of the type that all pilots used prior to going into high performance aircraft. Its engine is a Pratt & Whitney Wasp 9 cylinder radial, air cooled, with 600HP. The date December 6, 1941, is stamped on the engine name plate, the day before that infamous Pearl Harbor atack by the Japanese on December 7, 1941. This aircraft is a national treasure.
